A free private alpha
- Remem is in alpha. It is free, it is still changing, and it may have bugs. Features can change or be removed.
- We may pause the service, end the alpha, or end the service altogether. If we plan to shut down the sync service, we will email you at least 30 days before, so you can export your data.
- There is no uptime guarantee or service level during the alpha.
Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old. Invite codes are personal and single-use. Please do not sell, publish or share them. We may send invites in batches, in sign-up order, at our discretion.
Your vault is yours, and so is its key
Your vault is encrypted with keys derived from your master password and your Secret Key, and they never leave your devices. We cannot recover your vault if you lose both your master password and your Emergency Kit. Keep the Emergency Kit somewhere safe, and keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose while Remem is in alpha.
You are responsible for keeping your devices, your master password and your Emergency Kit secure.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to:
- break the law, or store or share material that is unlawful to hold;
- attack, overload or probe the service, other than security research under our disclosure policy;
- create accounts automatically, or in bulk, or for someone else without their permission;
- get around rate limits, invite controls or bot protection.
If an account breaks these rules, or puts the service or other users at risk, we may suspend or close it. Unless the law or the risk requires us to act at once, we will tell you first and explain why.
The software licence
Remem's source code is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later. That licence governs your use of the software itself. These terms govern the hosted website and sync service. Neither replaces the other.
Liability
The service is provided free during the alpha. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss of data, profits or business arising from your use of it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in them affects the rights that the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We will email you at least 30 days before any material change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. Small corrections and clarifications take effect when published.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.
Please write to hello@remempass.org first; most problems can be fixed quickly. You can also use an out-of-court dispute resolution body in your country, if one is available. The EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform was closed on 20 July 2025, so it is not available.
