Point the app and extension at your server
Create a vault on your own server, connect an existing This Device Only vault to it, and connect the browser extension.

Once your server answers over HTTPS, use its address wherever Remem asks for a sync server.
A new vault
- On Set up Remem, under Sync cloud, choose Self-Hosted Cloud.
- Enter your server’s address in Custom sync server URL, such as
https://sync.example.com. - Leave Invite code (if your server asks for one) empty; the Docker server doesn’t use invites.
- Finish creating your vault. Your Emergency Kit shows the server’s address under Sync server.
An existing This Device Only vault
- Open Settings → Sync and choose Custom Server.
- Enter the address in Sync server and select Connect.
- If the vault already has items, confirm with Touch ID or your Mac password; the prompt names the server your encrypted vault will be sent to. Every item uploads.
This works only for a vault created with an email address. A device with no system identity check can’t send a vault that has items; Settings says so.
A vault that syncs with Remem Cloud
- Open Settings → Sync, choose Custom Server and enter your server’s address.
- Select Change server and confirm with Touch ID or your Mac password. Remem checks Remem Cloud for changes once more, then uploads every item to your server.
- Do the same on each of your other Macs, and pair the browser extension again.
Remem Cloud keeps its copy until you delete your account there. The full procedure, and the messages you may see, are in Move to another server or storage mode.
Other devices and the extension
On another Mac, choose Self-Hosted Cloud on Add this device and enter the same address (Set up a second device). In the extension, a pairing code fills the address in; otherwise type it into Sync server (the browser extension).
