Remove a device
Sign a lost, sold or old device out of your vault, and what that does and doesn’t do to the copy on it.

Your devices are listed in Settings → Sync under Devices, each with when it was last seen. The browser extension appears as “Browser extension”.
Remove a device
- On any of your devices, open Settings → Sync and find the device under Devices. The one you are using is marked This device.
- Select Remove next to it and confirm with Touch ID or your Mac password.
- It is marked Removed. Its session ends straight away. If it is open and online, it also locks; otherwise it stays open but can no longer sync, and its next sync reports “The sync session expired.”
What removing does and doesn’t do
- It does sign the device out, so it stops syncing.
- It doesn’t erase the vault on that device. Its local copy stays there, encrypted.
- It doesn’t stop someone who knows your master password from signing that device back in. Removal isn’t a ban, and Remem has no remote wipe.
To erase the copy on a device you still have, use Settings → This device → Remove vault from this device on that device itself. See Remove Remem from a Mac.
If a device is lost or stolen
- Remove it from your device list as above.
- Ask yourself whether whoever has it could know your master password. The copy on it is encrypted and needs your master password to open. If Touch ID unlock was on, it can also be opened by anyone who gets into that Mac’s user account and can pass the Touch ID prompt, which accepts the Mac’s login password.
- If your master password could be known, or the Mac was taken unlocked, treat your vault as exposed. Remem can’t change a master password, so move to a new vault and change the passwords that matter most.
